Music Director Devi Sri Prasad, shortly called DSP is on the look out for a good script to act, though he finds no time to act in films, instead of focusing much of his time on directing music and giving live-show performances. The music director has the ability to dance on stages and had won applause of the audiences on several occasions.

In fact, DSP has danced in Sun Pictures Vedi film for the music of Vijay Antony. In Manmadhan Ambu, he has scored music and had also appeared with Kamal Hassan in the film playing guitar for the song's sequence of Neelavaanam.

If DSP finds the script, it is said, that he would act in his own film, like the music director Vijay Antony who appeared in the film Naan.

It is not yet known, how many music directors from our Tamil films will become heroes.

Podaa Podi- STR with Varalakshmi

By, N.Thyagarajan

Silambarasan has always been a rebel with a distinct style and vision who loves to break away from the constraints of prevailing trends. This has helped him to carve his own niche in Tamil cinema and Podaa Podi is an example of that. It is an engaging watch because it wins you over with its heart warming, simple charm, immensely likeable characters, and the intrinsic humour in the writing. It's the film's excellent dialogues that ensure there's never a dull moment.

The story is set in London where Arjun (STR), an urbane guy with western lifestyle and superior Tamil values bumps into Nisha (Varalaxmi) a salsa dancer who is a cheerful chatterbox. It’s their journey of love, marriage and understanding each other told in a rather different manner.
The debutant director Vignesh Shivan has made it a youthful romantic musical with his style of writing and presentation of each scene. It is the tongue in cheek humour in the dialogues, especially those regarding Tamil culture and the typical male attitude that works big in the film.
The magic of this film lies in the performances of STR and Varalakshmi. Despite the risk of being overshadowed by STR, Varalakshmi is the big surprise here as she makes a promising debut and brings alive her character with not just those smart lines, but with the kind of confidence and candour. She also dubs in her own voice.

VTV Ganesh as hero’s uncle is a scream and as usual his combo with STR brings the house down. Shobhana is adequate as heroine’s aunt. STR, leaves an indelible impression with a performance that is understated and mature, and indeed the perfect foil to Varalakshmi's boisterousness. Together, they set off such sparks, that the strength of their chemistry alone is enough to make up for several golden moments in the film.

Making a conscious effort to avoid clich├ęs, the screenplay rustles up a bunch of pleasant surprises in the form of some unforgettable scenes that stay in your head long after you have left the cinema. One such scene that will stay in your mind is Arjun’s outburst in front of Nisha’s house to Sobhana.

PIZZA- Released this diwali

By, N.Thyagarajan

Michael (Vijay Sethupathy), the hero of the film is a pizza delivery boy. He has a live-in relationship with his girlfriend Anu (Ramya Nambisan), who is an avid reader of ghost stories.
Michael does not believe in ghosts or about paranormal activities. However Anu warns him and tells him- “your moment will come”. One day Michael on a home delivery to a mysterious bungalow stumbles into something creepy that changes his life forever.
Debutant director Karthik Subburaj’s premise, milieu and overall packaging of this romantic thriller make this Pizza crispy at the same time yummy. The background score and music of Santosh Narayan (Attakathi fame) is a major plus.

The director seems to be heavily influenced by Manoj Night Shyamalan and his type of films of ‘seeing dead people’, with several nods to The Sixth Sense and Shining. But Karthik has been able to create the adequate dread and suspense in the mind of the audiences – Is Michael hallucinating or is he telling the truth.

The last 10 minutes with a stunning ending have all the answers which you were seeking in the 127 minute film. Dwelling further on the story and packaging would be a spoiler.
Technically the film is good with Gopi Amarnath the cameraman able to create the required dread and editing of Leo John Paul which increases the anxiety. On the downside you can see red herrings towards interval point. Why go on dragging the paranormal activities in the bungalow in the first half, with scenes being repeated?
Vijay Sethupathy is the right choice as the pizza delivery boy and he shines while Ramya Nambisan is endearing as the cunning Anu. The supporting cast of friends and owner of the restaurant Adukalam Narain , Pooja makes it creepy and interesting.
On the whole it is a film which is entertaining and at the same time different in its approach.

She act opposite Vishal Krishna in the film.

Thirty three years ago, Radha and Karthik made their debut through the film Alaigal Oivathillai and now it is the turn of their daughter and son to enter acting.

Aishwarya Arjun a B.Com graduate from Stella Maris College took to fashion design. But in Pattathu Yaanai she is acting as a 12th standard school student.

Says Aishwarya, " I never really thought of becoming an actress, but it runs in my family. The script of the film came by and it seemed to be the right time".

Adds Aishwarya: More than we, as youngsters, deciding to make out debuts, I think it's got to do with our fathers launching us. Healthy competition is always good.

"I am completely aware of what being a star kid entails. At every given point of time your work will be compared to that of our parents, and have to live up to a name. But then again, I am trying not to take the pressure too seriously" says Aishwarya.

Whether the budding actress has been undergoing any training in acting when I asked the question, she said" NO and added that my dad keeps advising me on how I could improve myself".

Soon we expect the young Aishwaya will steal the show through her films in which she is going to act. Like father and mother Niveditha, a Bharatha Natyam exponent (who learnt under actress Shobana) Aishwarya soon will prove her versatility in acting and as well in dance.

Trish's New play...

by, Aishwarya Thyagarajan

Trisha is playing Maya, an Indian girl working in a foreign country, in 'Samaran', which has Vishal in the lead role. The film is being directed by Thiru, who earlier delivered 'Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai'.

"What starts as friendship between Vishal and Trisha blossoms into love. Though this sounds cliched, we have given a different treatment to the screenplay," says the director, who is optimistic about the movie's success.

He adds: "Trisha will dub on her own for Samaran. There is one more heroine, Sunaina. She plays a girl from a rich family in Ooty. There is no connection between the characters of Trisha and Sunaina as per the script. But there are some interesting things."

Recently, some crucial scenes for the movie were shot in Ooty. The cast and crew of 'Samaran' will soon leave to a couple of foreign countries to shoot the songs and stunt sequences for this action entertainer.
